Living near Windsor in England, he had a Queen for a nearby neighbour, though they rarely saw each other.

He was the third of four children in the family, with an elder brother and sister, and a younger sister.

Growing up as a child was wonderful. You never knew what was going to happen. Every day was different, every day was good. He was happy.

He enjoyed school, loved his rugby, and made and kept friends for life.

Over the years the boy grew up and became a man.

Being a man, he put away his childish things and focused on the “important” things of building a career, climbing the corporate ladder, and becoming respected and known. You know how it is.

So, he worked hard. He applied himself diligently, and slowly he began to make his way up the ladder. He earned good money, he had a nice car, and he travelled with his job.

But he wasn’t happy.

He found himself doing the same thing day in and day out. The appeal of the work lost its sparkle, and he felt he was making no real impact.

He felt frustrated. The work was not fulfilling, and he felt empty on the inside. He knew the work wasn’t taking him where he wanted to go or allowing him to do what he wanted to do. He couldn’t continue.

So, he quit.

…AND SO, THE STORY CONTINUES

When I quit the corporate rat race to set up my own business, Growth & Profit Solutions (GPS), in 2009 it was at the worst of times.

I only had a few thousand dollars behind me, only a couple of small clients, when I opened my doors and then the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) hit Australia!

What looked promising suddenly looked dire. Doors that were open were now slammed shut, emails and phone calls were ignored, and business was drying up.

Not the best time to start maybe. But I kept going.  I made mistakes, and I learnt. There were times when I had to dip into the mortgage account to get food and pay bills, and the money coming in was slow and intermittent.

So, why did I keep going?

I hadn’t burnt my bridges, I could go back to a job, but I’d have to give up on my dream. And I wasn’t going to do that…

MY DREAM

​I’ve always loved being in business. Always.

For me, business is not about the money – its about the legacy you create for others. It’s always been and always will be about people.

Over the years I have seen many, many businesses struggle – often unnecessarily – and either fail to reach their potential, to be all they can be, or in some cases go under.

Small to medium-sized businesses are the backbone of any economy, in my mind they are the unsung heroes. They put in long hours, often for little reward, and do so day after day, week after week.

These business owners and their people are smart. They know what they want to achieve. Technically they are often black-belts in what they do. But they don’t know how they to achieve what they want.

To bridge the gap, it’s about helping them develop, embed and implement the skills they need for themselves. This way they can grow and thrive on an on-going and sustainable basis.

So, this is my dream for you.

To help you develop the skills you need and to implement them to gain traction, create momentum and gain results. To help you unlock their personal and professional potential. To be all you can be. And to be able to live the life you choose for yourself.

But it’s not just about you…. I want to take it a stage further.

I want you to gain mastery of what you learn. And to gain mastery you have to be able to teach what you have learnt to others. This creates the “ripple effect”.

With just one ‘drop’, and one person, you can create a ripple that goes on and on. Each person that is touched can, in turn, reach a myriad of others and share with them what they have learnt, experienced and achieved.

This is what I want for you. To be the best that you can be, to live the life you choose, and in doing so enable others to do the same – including those far beyond those who we know or meet.

This the legacy I want to create, a legacy for you.
